Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

This policy explains what information placeivo.com (“Placeivo”, “we”) collects when you use the site, why, and the choices you have. Placeivo is an information website about cities. You can use it without creating an account, and we do not ask for your name, address or payment details.

1. Information we collect

Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (added through Google Site Kit) to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location (country or city level), device and browser type, the site that referred you, and how long you stayed. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar identifiers to tell visits apart. We use this only to see which pages are useful and to improve the site.

Server and security logs. Our hosting provider (Hostinger) and its caching system (LiteSpeed) process technical data such as your IP address, browser user-agent, the page requested and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver pages, keep the site fast and protect it against attacks. These logs are kept for a limited period by the host.

Messages you send us. If you contact us, we receive the details you choose to include (for example your email address and message) and use them only to reply and, where relevant, to correct data on the site.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

2. Cookies

Placeivo itself does not set advertising cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (future). We may show ads served by Google AdSense in the future. If we do, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You will be able to opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before such cookies are used. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Affiliate links. Some pages may link to services such as money transfer, insurance or travel providers. If you click such a link, the provider may set its own cookies to record that you came from Placeivo. Affiliate links will always be labelled.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to run and secure the website, understand which content is useful, fix errors, and answer messages. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

4. Who we share it with

Information is processed by the service providers that run the site: Hostinger (hosting), LiteSpeed (caching, on our host) and Google (analytics, and advertising if enabled). Each acts under its own privacy terms. We may also disclose information if required by law.

5. International transfers and retention

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics property; messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to a data-protection authority. To make a request, use our contact page.

7. Data on city pages

The figures on Placeivo city pages come from public official statistics (for example Eurostat, the UK Office for National Statistics and the World Bank). They describe places, not people, and contain no personal information.

8. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change, for example before turning on advertising, and change the “Last updated” date above.
